Show Notes

On today’s episode, we’re talking about retirement savings and what it’s for. Beyond money, what are you doing with your time and energy when you get to retirement?

As financial advisors, we talk a lot about numbers, account types, investments and tax strategies, but today we’re talking about the non-financial side. This is one of our favorite topics when we meet with clients.

What is all of this money you saved for? People can get focused on it being for retirement, but sometimes they haven’t thought past that.

We love hearing clients’ dreams and what they’d like to do with the money. Maybe they want to buy a Ford Mustang or take their children on a lavish vacation. Once you start putting your dreams on paper, they become more of a reality and you can craft a plan around them.

Spending more time with family

For a lot of people, spending more time with family is a huge motivator to save money and be financially secure.

One of our clients has grandchildren, and they wanted to fully fund a vacation with their children and grandchildren every other year. We worked that into their financial plan.

Another client wanted to shift to part-time work so they could see family’s sports games. Whatever their dream is, we want to help them achieve it.

Buying things

Some people have been very conservative in their life and haven’t splurged on spending because their entire focus has been on saving for retirement.

We want to help you live life today but also be confident about your tomorrow and your future.
